Tens of Thousands of innocent lives have been lost to one of the most tragic natural disasters in recent history. Even though a natural disaster like this may not be directly blamed on any particular groups or government, the number of lost human lives could have been greatly reduced by implementation of the most basic disaster warning system in a part of the world which is constantly endangered by Earthquakes, volcanos and monsoons alike.

AWF offers its condolences to all the families who have lost loved ones in this greatest disaster of the new century in the matter of human loss and urges everyone to do what they can to help the survivors and the recovery of the Affected areas by donating to one of the following international organizations or any of the other local or intenational relief groups:
